Global Shading Day

The 21st March launches the European Solar Shading Organisation's first Global Shading Day.

The aim is to make everyone, both the general public and policy makers, aware of the human, environmental and economic benefits of solar shading

With the changing climate bringing more heatwaves combined with the fight against global warming and the need to reduce energy-consuming air conditioning, solar shading is becoming indispensable

A scientific study by Guidehouse has shown that smart or dynamic solar shading could reduce CO2 emissions by up to 100 million tonnes and save up to £250 billion! This is a potential energy saving of up to 60% for the cooling of buildings by 2050. Buildings are still the leading energy consumers today, accounting for 40% of energy consumption and 36% of greenhouse gas emissions. However, if we do nothing, climate change and heat waves will increase the number of buildings requiring air conditioning by an estimated 60%.

Choosing the correct solar shading brings the ability to manage both heat and light in an effective way. When you can cool a room with solar shading, this brings a reduced demand for air conditioning, reducing energy costs but more importantly reducing CO2 emissions and greenhouse gases.

Adjustable shading also allows you to control the amount of sunlight in our inside spaces, reducing glare while still allowing light to come into the room which is proven to improve mood and make us happy.

We offer a wide range of products that target solar shading

Roller and Vertical blinds have reflective backing, blackout or white backed fabric options to help block out the sun when necessary.

Hive blinds have a unique honeycomb structure that gives increased insulation. The cellular design helps to improve climate control within the home, saving energy.

Pleated blinds come in a range of fabric transparencies like blackout or white backed fabrics but the key feature of the pleated is that they have an Advanced Solar Control (asc) coating that is applied to increase energy efficiency.

The Thermostop venetian slat range is three times more effective at blocking heat compared to a normal standard slat which allows your customers to control the climate of their homes for ambient temperature all year.
